Since last time...

Well a lot has changed in the comic universe since we last met. I'm still reading most of the same stuff. Here is the basic breakdown of the current status-Quo;

Spiderman: If you have been living under a rock in the comics world all you really need to know about Spidey is that Peter Parker's body has been taken over by a dying Doc Ock and Peter's mind no Longer exists. Or so it would seem, this is comics by the way and I'm sure Peter Parker will return. The move from Peter to Octavius has been interesting and Dan Slott has built an intriguing story that I can't wait to see where it goes. Oh and did I mention the Green Goblin is back with lots of religious zealot followers?
The end of Peter Parker? (he is not in the spidey suit)
X-Men: Well where to start? Xavier is dead and his brain is in the Red Skull so Red Skull is now super powerful and wants to do to Mutants like Nazis did to the Jews. Xavier's son is off running around in "Legacy" trying to fill daddy's shoes. Cyclops jumped ship after the whole Phoenix/Hope thing and is hanging out with Magneto, Emma Frost and others being Mutant revolutionaries. Wolverine started the Jean Grey school for gifted youngsters and is trying to follow in Xavier's footsteps and uphold the dream. Beast brought the original X-men from the past to the present to try and influence Cyclops to be less villainy. Some future X-men showed up along with some villainy X-men from the future and so on and so on. It's been a fun ride and I'm interested to see where it goes. The main books have been pretty good. The wolverine book has maintained a youthful feel like Gen X did back in the 90's even with some nice Bachalo art.to start out the series. Jason Aaron is doing a great job. Oh and Nightcrawler is back in the new title Amazing X-Men.
You have been missed Elf

Not a bad roster for Amazing X-Men. Why is Wolverine in everything?

Avengers: Through multiple time traveling madness the Avengers have screwed up everything. Holes in the multi-verse, having to destroy alternate earths, and bring an invasion worse than the Annihilation Wave upon the galaxy. Way to go guys. But the new larger more galactic avenger team has been cool even though I am not always familiar with the whole cast. Hickman is building a story that will pay off in the long run. Hickman tends to play the long game in his stories and boy do I enjoy them. If you have not checked out his Fantastic four run, go do it. I think it is all available on Marvel Digital Unlimited, the best way to go check out back-stories you may have missed. Well worth the cost.

Guardians of the Galaxy: always fun and in the thick of all the cosmic goings on, usually involving Thanos. For some reason we have that Angela character from Spawn in the 90's in the book now and this worries me but with the movie coming out soonish I'm sure things will come together nicely to support the influx of new readers. Have you seen the teaser for the movie yet? It was "leaked" but pretty hard to find now since Disney cracked down on the bootlegged video.

Walking Dead: You should be reading this. Period. Negan makes the Governor look like a bitch.

Iron Man: Interesting origin story that is beginning to fall flat. not sure how I feel about this.

Uncanny Avengers: I like the characters in this and the writer but it has not been real memorable so far. except the whole Red Skull arc that it started this run.

Well Tomorrow is Comic day so stay tuned for an update on what I liked this week and in a couple weeks I'll post my thoughts on the Doctor Who: Day of the Doctor movie. Doctor Who! In Theaters! Hell Yeah!

Lets try this again.

It has been a long time since I was on here and the original blog I was working on has changed somewhat (amazing League) and while I still support and will contribute to it this is more of my personal blog where I will focus on all the media i intake and am geeking out on at the moment. Starting with the new year we will be having more guests on our podcasts! yea guests! remember to subscribe to our podcast feed and hey, leave a comment on Itunes or shoot us a message at amazingleague@gmail.com , we will read/answer each question on our podcast. Messages do not have to be relevant to what we discuss - we will answer anything - I don't guarantee the answers will be correct but they will be entertaining. To make sure this isn't a purely self promotional post, I now give you my current top 10 podcasts I listen too and so should you.

  4. Pod.F.Tompkast- Paul F Tompkins is one of my favorite comedians and his podcast is more of a variety show of sorts that all takes place during the nighttime on the internet. It is Wonderful and start listening at the beginning because you don't want to miss a moment of "The Great Undiscovered Project."
